Closing ceremony 2022 – 2023: Every student represents the heart and spirit of Scotch AGS

“We want that each student would be the best version of themselves and a Vietnamese global citizen when they completed their journey at Scotch AGS” – Dr. Thu Phan, Executive Principal of Scotch AGS – shared at the Closing Ceremony 2022 – 2023.

With more than 300 students and parents attending, Scotch AGS had a grand and emotional Closing Ceremony with memories and great success.

The Closing Ceremony opened with a contemporary dance performance named “Nam Quoc Son Ha” of the Scotch AGS dance club. The emotional performance highlighted national pride and proved the training philosophy at the hundred-year-old Australian school through an effort to preserve Vietnamese cultural values in the international environment.

Sharing about this memorable event, Dr. Douglas Foster – Chancellor of Scotch AGS – said that the ceremony was an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on the wonderful year together. To him, they are the heart and spirit of Scotch AGS.

Filled with the same feeling, Dr. Kelly Sharp – Chair of Scotch AGS Academic Committee, and Director of Operation at Scotch International Education – shared that witnessing the children growing during the past school year is the most meaningful journey for her. Dr. Kelly hopes that Scotch College Adelaide and its partner – Scotch AGS – will maintain strong cooperation, supporting Vietnamese students to have the opportunity to access a high-quality international education.

As Executive Principal of Scotch AGS, Dr. Thu Phan expressed her happiness with the sustainable growth of Scotch AGS in Vietnam. She said: “The school training philosophy aims at absorbing the quintessence of Western education through its mindset and language, while not forgetting to inherit the valuable values of Eastern education in training traits and work habits”.

Dr. Thu Phan, Executive Principal of Scotch AGS, made her speech at the Closing Ceremony of the 2022 – 2023 school year.

She also expressed her deep gratitude to the companion of the partners, parents, and all students throughout the school year.

Noticeably, the coming-of-age ceremony for the 9th graders marked a memorable milestone when they had a chance to show their gratitude to their parents and teachers. Dressed in dignified graduation attire, all students were joyful and proud of their achievements during the 2022 – 2023 school year.

Aloa and Chi made their speech in the coming-of-age ceremony at the Scotch AGS Closing Ceremony.

“The past journey was full of challenges, but thanks to the encouragement from our parents and the support from our teachers, we overcame it. Today, we are proud to be graduated, grown, and become helpful individuals.” – Aloa and Linh Chi, 9th-grade representatives, shared in their speech.

The award ceremony, which is also the most awaited part of the closing ceremony, attracted the excitement and interest of most of the students. Last school year, Scotch AGS achieved impressive figures with 44 outstanding students, 25 excellent students, and 11 superior students.

At Scotch AGS, all student achievement is measured objectively through an assessment moderation with academic coordinators from Scotch College Adelaide. Therefore, this is something to be proud of for the continuous efforts of the students and teachers. This achievement further affirms the school’s motto when orienting Scotch AGS as an international school for the talent.

Students of all grades were radiant in the award ceremony and presented souvenirs for excellent and superior titles.

Sharing feeling about her academic achievements, Bao Ngoc – a 9th grader – said: “I feel very proud of myself. After a year at Scotch AGS, I turned from a shy girl into a confident student who has gained superior English ability and excellent academic results”.

To excite the atmosphere, Scotch AGS’s students presented well-prepared musical performances. These performances reflected Scotch AGS’s training philosophy that focuses on exploiting the full potential of the academic intellect, culture, music, and physical activities. The audience gave high praise for the talent of our students. Noticeably, the hit “I want it that way” seemed to “explode” the auditorium with the boys’ sweet voices and elegant looks.

The modern dance group rocked the atmosphere with their performance.

Insightful and unique are the interjections for the students’ presentations of various cultures in the world. They reincarnated stories such as Journey to Glory: Sumo Match from Japan, Taekwondo Elite from Korea, or Italy’s romance of the musical Pinocchio through professional speech and plays.

Talented students harmonized in the song I want it that way.

Another highlight was the recreation of Lamb to the Slaughter – a story that represents the UK. The student’s novel storytelling and acting skills deeply conveyed the message about humanity. This performance was also the closing mark for the event. A long journey had ended. A new one has begun. We wish Scotch AGS students brilliant achievements in the 2023-2024 school year.
