Building strong foundations
At Nam Uc Scotch AGS, students learn an Australian-standard academic program from Grades 1-12. The program aims to build a strong foundation for a lifelong learning of students.
The Australian Primary Program taught at Nam Uc Scotch AGS is designed based on the Australian Curriculum framework combined with a number of subjects from the program of the Vietnamese Department of Education and Training. This curriculum is the best choice for parents who want their children to become global citizens while preserving Vietnamese cultural values.
The primary years are a voyage of discovery where children develop a love of learning and a sense of curiosity and creativity Literacy and numeracy are prioritised from the early years, recognized as the foundation of all future learning. In addition to English and Mathematics, students will be exposed to a range of subjects within the Australian Curriculum classroom program, including Science, Technologies, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Education.
To preserve Vietnamese culture and language, Australian primary school students will still study Vietnamese subjects such as literature, language, and culture. International students can also be acquainted with this language through the many Vietnamese classes offered by the school.
Most subjects are taught in an integrated way through an inquiry focus, offering a mix of learning experiences that help students develop research, problem solving, and critical and creative thinking skills. Students will also participate in specialist lessons, including Visual and Creative arts and Physical Education.
With small class sizes (from 20 to 25 students), it helps teachers easily monitor and evaluate each student’s ability.
Develop communication skills in a multicultural environment
In the first years of primary school, English skills are factors that need to be cultivated for students because this is the first year they get used to the international learning environment. English in this period focuses on reflexes, phonics, listening, and speaking, combined with basic grammar structures and vocabulary. With a 100% English learning environment as well as accurate and regular interaction with teachers, students will practice good listening comprehension, quick reflexes, confident speaking and correct answers.
Focus on Vietnamese language and cultural values
To preserve Vietnamese culture and language, Australian primary school students will still study Vietnamese subjects such as literature, language, and culture. International students can also be acquainted with this language through the many Vietnamese classes opened by the school.
Improve thinking ability
Math and English are the two subjects that receive the most attention in primary school, with the goal of helping students improve their numeracy and other subjects in English. Outstanding Math ability will help children develop thinking, initiative, decisiveness, and the ability to work logically. This is also the foundation for the development of Science and Research subjects at a higher level. In addition, with smart learning applications like HOTmaths, after school, students can actively explore math lessons on a dedicated learning path calculated and systematized specifically for children by watching videos on this app. Form the spirit of self-study, self-reliance, and self-control
Students’ interest and active self-study are extremely important. Therefore, the teaching methods at Scotch AGS are designed in accordance with each subject, such as:
When students have enthusiasm for learning, they will actively explore and discover knowledge, improving their spirit of self-study and independence. The Australian Primary School environment will help students develop basic life attitudes, social skills, and resilience to become successful, confident, and creative learners in their future learning journey.
Having diverse CCA programs will help train students to be versatile and develop comprehensively in different aspects of their lives. Therefore, Scotch AGS offers co-curricular activities in four areas: Entrepreneurship, STEM, Music and Art, Sport. From Grades 1–5, attendance in CCA classes is compulsory. Students are able to select lessons of interest from a list of school activities, mainly in the form of clubs, with an emphasis on developing and cultivating specific skills or talents.
